OW… Why did you decide to get back into the managerial hot seat after being out of the game for a few years?
GC… Although out of the game for a while, Cregagh Sports Club is where I have the odd shandy. I watch a lot of the games and know the players. So when the job came up and the right people with me, I decided to go for it.
OW... What changes have you made to the club from the previous manager?
GC… Hopefully I have given the players a bit of confidence in their own ability. I have two great lads working with me, between us we have the players playing for their shirts again.
OW... Your in the job almost three months, is everything going to plan?
GC… Things are going ok. As at every level there are disappointments, the important thing is to keep them to a minimum. Losing club captain Noel Wilson is something I didn’t plan for, but hopefully the rest of the squad will pull together.
OW… You’ve held a number of positions at the club over the years, what have you enjoyed most?
GC… To date I have two. Being club captain under Geordie Robb, and managing and winning 3c with the Dreamers in 95/96 season.
OW… What’s been your most memorable moment?
GC… I have loads of great memories. The party in bar 42 in Newcastle Upon Tyne the Saturday we won 3c is defiantly one. Some of Moosies own goals were quite memorable.
OW… During your playing days (if you can remember that far back) who was the best player you played with?
GC… Not only the best I’ve played with but also the best I’ve seen…. Aaron Holywood
OW… If you were given the money, what would be the first thing you’d fix at the club?
GC… THE PITCH!!!
OW… What targets have you set for the team this season?
GC… Although some don’t look it, I have a very young squad. I don’t want to put pressure on them, but I do have targets.
OW… finally, what do you think George Robb would make of how the clubs run today?
GC… I was a very good friend of Geordies and knew him better than most. After the way the clubs been going the past few years, I reckon he’d be glad to see an old friend at the helm. Off the pitch he’d be delighted to see a good strong committee.
